Pulley announced on September 15, 2026 that it will stop operating on December 8, 2026. If your cap table lives in Pulley, you have one hard deadline for data and one for the Carta offer.
This guide covers the dates, what Carta is offering, what to download now, and how to choose where to go.
You have four dates, and two of them are hard deadlines
Pulley's shutdown FAQ sets out the timeline. Business Insider reported the same dates on announcement day.
| Date | What happens |
|---|---|
| September 15, 2026 | Pulley announces the shutdown and names Carta as its exclusive transition partner. |
| November 30, 2026 | Last day to opt in to the Carta transition offer. |
| December 8, 2026 | Pulley ceases all operations and services. |
| January 31, 2027 | Limited access to Pulley data ends. |
Carta's offer is a one-year price match, not a permanent one
Carta is Pulley's only named transition partner. According to Pulley's FAQ, customers who opt in get:
- A migration of the cap table and its history, handled by Carta.
- Their current Pulley pricing for the first year.
- A credit for any unused, prepaid balance on the Pulley subscription.
- Acceptance of Pulley's existing 409A valuation as-is.
Two terms matter for planning. Monthly Pulley plans convert to quarterly or annual billing, because Carta does not offer monthly billing. And the price match covers year one only, so year two is priced on Carta's own terms.
Carta does not publish its prices. Vendr's data on 405 Carta purchases puts the median contract at $15,400 a year. Pulley's Growth plan is $3,500 a year, per Pulley's pricing page.
Pulley will not help you move anywhere else
Pulley's FAQ says it is "unable to assist a migration to a different provider in any capacity." Pulley has no public API and no Open Cap Table Format export.
That means your own downloads are the migration. The good news is that Pulley's exports are complete enough to rebuild a cap table with its full history.
Download these six things from Pulley today
Do this even if you plan to accept the Carta offer. It gives you an independent record of your cap table on the day you left.
- Cap table workbook. Dashboard, then Download Cap Table, with All Time selected. This is an .xlsx with an Ownership tab and a sheet per security type. Pulley's help article shows the three places to find it.
- Stakeholder list. Stakeholders, then Actions, then Download. It carries emails, addresses and relationships.
- Raw Cap Table report. Company, then Reports. It holds every underlying data field.
- Stakeholder Transaction report. Also under Reports. It is the full history of issuances, exercises, transfers and cancellations.
- Certificates. Download all certificate PDFs.
- Signed documents. Grant agreements, board consents, SAFEs, 409A reports and 83(b) copies. Pulley does not document a bulk download, so save them one by one or by folder.
Store the files somewhere your company controls, such as a shared drive your counsel can reach.
Choose your next provider on four facts, not on the default
The Carta path is the easiest to click. It is not automatically the cheapest or the best fit. Compare any option on these four points.
The price in year two and year three
A one-year match followed by quote-based pricing is a different deal from a published price that holds. Capable's prices are the same as Pulley's, published, and held for as long as you stay subscribed.
Whether you can run the migration yourself
A self-serve importer lets you see your cap table in the new tool within minutes and check it against Pulley's totals. A queued migration means waiting to find out.
Monthly billing
If you paid Pulley monthly, check whether your new provider allows it. Carta does not, per Pulley's FAQ. Capable offers monthly billing at $120 (Startup) or $350 (Growth).
Whether you can leave again
Ask whether you can export the full cap table and an Open Cap Table Format file yourself, any day, without a call. Capable offers Excel and OCF export at any time, including after a subscription ends.
Capable was built for this exact move
Capable is cap table software built to replace Pulley, with the same prices and a layout Pulley users will recognise.
- Same prices, held. Startup $1,200 a year, Growth $3,500 a year, or $120 and $350 monthly. Annual billing is ten months' price.
- Unlimited stakeholders on both plans. Pulley capped Startup at 25 and Growth at 40.
- Self-serve import. Upload the Pulley workbook and stakeholder CSV. Capable maps the columns, rebuilds vesting and reconciles against Pulley's ownership totals before you commit.
- Free done-for-you migration. Send us the files and we migrate you within 24 hours.
- A 30-day free trial with everything unlocked for companies importing from Pulley, Carta or AngelList.
- An AI connector for Claude and ChatGPT. Changes the assistant proposes wait for an admin's approval.
Each company is billed separately. Subscribe during the trial and your card is charged only when the trial ends. If the trial ends without a plan, the cap table is read-only until you choose one, and exports and stakeholder portals stay open.
Do these three things this week
- Download the six exports listed above and store them outside Pulley.
- Import them into Capable and compare the reconciliation against Pulley's Ownership tab. See the step-by-step migration guide.
- If you are considering Carta, get the year-two quote in writing before November 30. Our Pulley vs Carta comparison lists the questions to ask.
